He was born Jan. 26, 1893 in Parnell, IA, and moved to Minong in 1902. Mr. Welch had been a farmer in the Town of Frog Creek area as well as a carpenter. Surviving are two daughters, Norma Richardson, Heber, Utah, and Lucille Cone, Silver Bay, Minn.; 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday in the Brown Funeral Home, Minong. The Rev. Ron Miller of the Minong Nazarene Church will officiate, with spring interment to be in Greenwood Cemetery, Minong. Visitation in the funeral home will be Friday two hours prior to the time of service.
