Obituary of Francis X HOERIG, Washington Co., WI Contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives November 4, 2003 by Marvin Hoerig The West Bend News Wednesday, April 19, 1905 Allenton Francis X Hoerig died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Peter Graff, at 4:30 a.m. Monday morning after an illness of less than a week. The immediate cause of death was inflammation of the bowels. Few knew of his sickness therefore his death caused no little sorrow. The deceased was born Dec. 1, 1831 in Baden, Germany, coming to this country at the age of 20, he remained in New York for some time, where he learned the carpenter trade, and later moved to Wisconsin settling in the town of Addison near Kohlsville. In 1860 he was married to Margaretha Fuchs. Out of 17 children, 11 survive, namely: Joseph and John of Hartford, Nick, Simon, Dora, and Math. of Wayne, Frank of St. Michaels, Chris of Winona, Minn., Lizzie and Tina, now Mrs. Yogerst of Hortonville, and Mrs. Peter Graff. His wife preceded him in death 3 years ago. He also leaves one brother residing in Germany. Mr. Hoerig was a kind-hearted gentleman and well liked by everybody. His home was in Wayne and he had only been spending a few weeks with his daughter Mrs. Peter Graff. He was buried in St. Bridget's Cemetery today (Wednesday) morning at 10:30 a.m., Rev.
