Mrs.King was one of the earliest settlers of Cooperstown, N.Y., having come there in February, 1795, when but six years old, with her father, Hon. Elihu Phinney, her brother Henry and Elihu, and her sister Catharine (the late Mrs. Metcalf), all of whom she survived. Mrs. K. has been many years a widow, residing with her daughters, Mrs. Edwin Jackson and Mrs. Lyman Otis, both of whom attended her last days, at the home of the latter, where she bore a long illness with the christian resignation and trust which has sustained her through a long life.
