All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/wi/wifiles.htm *********************************************************************** Source: Waupaca County Court, Vol. 1 Certificates of Citizenship (LDS FHL #2230680) page 176 Certificate of Citizenship TO THE JUDGE OF THE 7TH JUDICIAL CIRCUIT OF THE STATE OF WISCONSIN The petition of Frederick Kopisky a native of Prussia respectfully show that your petitioner Frederick Kopisky arrived in the United States of America, to wit: At the port of New York in the month of Jan, A.D. 1863 (And that in pursuance of an act of Congress, entitled, An act to establish an uniform rule of naturalization, and to repeal the acts passed upon that subject,) made a declaration of intention on the 24th day of March A.D. 1870, a certificate whereof is hereunto annexed, and that he has resided within the limits of the States for 20 years last pst, and in the State of Wisconsin for the last year, that he has never borne any hereditary title, or been of the order of nobility in the kingdom whereof he came, or elsewhere; he therefore prays that he may be admitted to become a citizen of the United States. Zimke, Citizen of the United States, being duly sworn according to law, say that they are well acquainted with the above named Frederick Kopisky and that to their knowledge an dbelief, he has resided within the limits and under the jurisdiction of the United States for the last 15 years past, and that for one year past he has resided within the State of Wisconsin, and during the same period he has behaved himself as a man of good character, attended to the principles of the Constitution of the United States, well disposed to the good order and happiness of the same. Binkelman, Clerk Frederick Kopisky being the above petitioner, on my solemn oath, do declare that the contents of the petition are true, and that I will support the Constitution of the United States, and that I do hereby renounce all allegiance and fidelity, and abjure all title or order of nobility which I am or may hereafter be entitled, to any foreign prince, potentate, state or sovereign whatever, and particularly to the Government of Prussia of which I was a subject. Strang, Clerk of the Circuit Court of the County of Waushara, and State of Wisconsin, that it is my bona fide intention to become a citizen of the United States, and to renounce forever all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state or sovereignty whatever, and particularly to the King of Prussia whereof I was hertofore a citizen or subject.
