Came to Oshkosh, with his father, Dr. Ammi P. Barber, in 1857; was educated in the schools of Oshkosh graduating from the high school in 1868. He read law with Chas. W. Felker, and his present partner, Earl P. Finch, and graduated from the school of Columbia College, N.Y. City, in May, 1874, he was admitted to practice in Wisconsin the same month; to practice in the Supreme Court of the State the same year, and afterward to U.S. Circuit and Supreme Courts. He is attorney for the C., M & St. P. Ry. Co., and of the Union National Bank, being a director of the latter institution. In 1874 and 1875 he was Inspector of the public schools of this city, and is now a member of the School Board. He was married at Oshkosh, January 1, 1880, to Daisy C., daughter of James Jenkins, who came to Oshkosh in 1857. Mr. B. has one child- Elizabeth W., born Nov. 6, 1880. Mr. Barber's father was a skillful and popular physician, and was engaged in active practice until his death in October, 1880.
