The first brewery Mr. Glatz bought was born in December, 1872. He was born in Germany Sept. 24, 1829, emigrated to America in 1853, and located first in Cincinnati, Ohio; lived there about three years, following brewing business; he learned his trade in Germany; he then went to Philadelphia, Pa., and was five or six months at work brewing; then he went to Milwaukee, Wis., and was foreman in South Side Brewery about twelve and a half years; then he went to Oshkosh and bought the brewery, since burned; he built the new Union Brewery in 1873. He was married in Milwaukee, Wis., in 1861, to Miss Louisa Elser; she was born in Germany, July 12, 1841. They have three children- J. William, born May 25, 1862; Emma L., born Feb. 20, 1867; Pauline R., born Jan 21, 1870.
