Hume, lawyer, was born in Rock Co., Wis., April 12, 1852; received his preliminary schooling in Janesville, and entered Lawrence University in Appleton, Wis., in 1869; graduated in 1874; then located in Oshkosh, where his parents had moved in 1866, and read law with Jackson & Halsey; was admitted to the bar in 1876; to the Supreme Court in January, 1879, and to the United States Circuit Court in 1880. He was married in Oshkosh Oct. 29, 1879, to Miss Nettie Scott, of Oshkosh. They have one child, John Scott. Mrs. Hume is a daughter of Co. J.W. Scott, who was killed at Chancellorsville
