L. Libbey, President of the Union National Bank; was born in Ossipee, N.H. In the spring of 1841, he went to Lowell, Mass., where he learned molder's trade; he went to California in the winter of 1849-50, where he remained until 1855; then returned to the East, and remained until he came to Oshkosh, Wis., in September, 1855; he has been engaged in the lumber business ever since he came here. Mr. Libbey is one of the most enterprising business men in this region, having been prominently identified with various manufacturing institutions; he has been President of the Union National bAnk since its organization.
