Obituary: Winnebago County, Wisconsin: HANNAH ASHBY ************************************************************************ Submitted by Kathy Grace, June 2005 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ Daily Northwestern February 23, 1885 p.3 Death of Mrs. Ashby Mrs. Hannah Ashby, wife of Julius Ashby, died at her home in Winneconne Saturday morning, Feb. 21st, aged sixty years. The deceased was engaged in putting a stick of wood in the stove, when without warning and before completing her task she fell to the floor and expired without saying a word or breathing after assistance reached her. A curious incident connected with her sudden death was the fact that Saturday was her sixtieth birthday. Such attacks as the one which resulted in death were experienced by the deceased about five years ago and were supposed to be caused by heart disease. Mrs. Ashby was an old resident of County as she came here in 1846. She was a sister of S.B. Doty. Three children are left to mourn their mother's sudden death, they being Mrs. Geo C. King, Mrs. Frank Stone [Stowe] and Major Ashby. The funeral will take place at eleven o'clock Tuesday morning from the Baptist church at Winneconne.
