She had been a partial invalid for a number of years, but had been seriously ill only a few days preceding her death, the end coming suddenly. Miss Bennett was born in the state of Ohio, Jan. 7, 1847. She resided in this city for a number of years and operated a small children’s and ladies’ ready-to-wear store at 349 Main street with her sister, the late Mrs. Lewis Lewis. The company was known as the Bennett Sisters and was in operation for many years. The business was sold in 1922 to Mrs. L. P. B. Arnold, proprietor of the firm at present. Mrs. Lewis was formerly Miss Martha V. Bennett before her marriage to Lewis Lewis in this city. Both Mr. and Mrs. Lewis were asphyxiated Feb. 11, 1923, when a gas heater in their home on Division street leaker. They had been preparing for church when they were found dead in the bathroom of their home. The only survivor of Miss Bennett is a brother, Edward E. Bennett of Lincoln, Neb. He was to arrive in this city today. Funeral arrangements have not been made pending the arrival of Mr. Bennett.
