Puzzles the Physicians

Sudden Death of Little Mertie Barnes This Morning

Miss Mertie Barnes, the six-year-old daughter of Charles Barnes of 281
Fifteenth street died suddenly this morning.  The doctors are at a loss to
know the cause of her death.  Tuesday night the little girl went to bed
apparently in good health.  Yesterday morning she was discovered to be in a
semi unconscious state.  Physicians were summoned but they were unable to
help the child.  The little girl was exceedingly bright and was a favorite
with all who knew her.  The funeral will be held Friday afternoon from the
house.
