Bates, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Delos W. Bates, died very suddenly in Chicago last Sunday morning of rheumatism of the heart. The diseased was in her usual good health when she retired at midnight, having been chatting with Mrs. Sager and daughter, with whom she was boarding, until that time, remarking as she said good night to call her in time for church, as she wished to attend the Easter services. When they called her at half-past seven the next morning they found her cold in death never to wake again. Her death was painless and physicians say it was instantaneous. The deceased was thirty-two years old and was a charming woman, loved by all who knew her, and her many friends in this city will mourn her loss. The remains arrived her last night, coming over the Central road. The funeral will take place from the family residence, No. 32 Myrtle street, tomorrow afternoon at two o'clock. Rev. C.B. Wilcox will conduct the services. Daily Northwestern April 9, 1890 Funeral of Miss Bates The funeral of Miss Florence Bates took place this afternoon from the residence on Myrtle street. Rev. C.B. Wilcox conducted impressive ceremonies in the presence of a large assemblage of mourning friends and relatives. The remains were lifelike and exquisitely beautiful, the features having the appearance of a deep sleep rather than death. The deceased was the pride of the family and her sudden death is a very sad blow.
