Obituary: Winnebago County, Wisconsin: Orsemus BILLINGS ************************************************************************ Submitted by Kathy Grace, November 2004 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ Winneconne Local Mar. 27, 1913 p.1 Orsemus Billings dies of general debility, at the home of his son-in-law, Saturday, March 22. Mr. Billings was born in the state of Vermont on the 12th day of August, 1833, and when abut fifteen years of age he moved with his father to the state of New York, his mother having died when he was about six years old. At the age of 23 years he was united in marriage to Miss Adaline Talor on the 5th of May, 1856. They made that state their home for a number of years and in 1865 they moved to this state and for sever years resided in the town of Waupun and Oakfield, in Fond du Lac county, later they moved to the town of Vinland near Allenville, where they lived for the past forty years. Six children came to gladden their home all of whom are living except one who died in childhood, more than thirty years ago. The Grim Reaper visited their home six years ago and deprived him of his wife. Up to the time of his death he was tenderly and lovingly cared for, and was a kind neighbor and loving and affectionate father. He was 79 years, 7 months and 10 days old. The funeral was held at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon from the Allenville church and interment took place in the Allenville cemetery. Rev. Codd, of this village, officiating. He leaves to mourn his loss five children, three boys, Dennis Amasa and Ira; two daughters, Mrs. Frank Smith and Mrs. A. Calder, and a host of other relatives and friends.
