Obituary: Winnebago County, Wisconsin: Edward BURKE ************************************************************************ Submitted by Kathy Grace, January 2006 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ Daily Northwestern October 25, 1928 p.4 Lifelong Poygan Resident is Victim of Influenza Winneconne, Wis.- Edward Burke, 68 years old, died at 4 o'clock this morning at his home in the town of Poygan, four and one-half miles west of the village of Winneconne. Death was the result of intestional influenza. The deceased was in ill health for the last three weeks. Mr. Burke was born July 20, 1860, at the home in which he died. He lived there all his life, with his sisters, Mrs. Nellie Smith and Miss Margaret Burke. He was engaged in the occupation of farming and fur trapping. The survivors, besides the sisters who lived at home, are three other sisters, Mrs. H.J. Halbert and Mrs. Mary McDonald, both of Chicago, and Mrs. Jane Moran of Winneconne. Two brothers, Thomas and John Burke, preceded him in death, as did one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Murphy. Mr. Burke was a member of the St. Thomas church of Poygan. Funeral services will be held there Saturday morning at 8:30 o'clock. Rev. Father Daniel, pastor of the church, will be the officiating clergyman. Interment will be at the Poygan cemetery.
