Obituary: Winnebago County, Wisconsin: J. H. CARVER ************************************************************************ Submitted by Kathy Grace, January 2010 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.org/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ Omro Journal May 28, 1896 p.1 Mr. J.H. Carver was born at Little Falls Herkimer Co N.Y. in 1819 and died at Omro, Wis., May 23, 1896. He was married in Pennsylvania, in 1862 to the wife who now mourns his loss. In 1869 he moved to Iowa and a few years later came to Omro, where he has lived about a quarter a century. He with his wife has been a member of the Omro Baptist church since 1872 and he has lived an exemplary life. On Sunday afternoon May 24 a large concourse of people gathered in the Baptist church for a last service in his memory, the pastor Rev. E.G. Hamley, preaching the sermon, after which the remains were taken to the Omro cemetery. Mr. Carver was a kind and thoughtful man in his home, a loving and tender husband. Having a desire for reading he enjoyed nothing so well as his Bible from which he derived great comfort. He was ready to depart being assured that there was a mansion prepared for him in that upper and better kingdom.
