G. Calkins and wife, was born in the old log house on her father's homestead in the town of Winneconne, Winnebago county, Wis., April 10th, 1856. She attended the district school, also the Oshkosh Normal and Lawrence University at Appleton, Wis. Age the age of 20, she was united in marriage to John C. Miller, Jan. 24th, 1877; they lived in the village where Mr. Miller was in the hardware business. One son, John O. Miller, Jr. was born Jan. 5th, 1876. Mr. Miller Sr. died Jan. 28th, 1878. Mrs. Miller was married again April 28th, 1887 to Capt. J.M. Clow. Mr. Clow and wife made their home at Menominee, Mich., and Marinette, Wis., until the time of her death. She leaves to mourn her going to her home not made with hands eternal in the heavens, are her husband, Capt. J.M. Clow, of Marinette, Wis., two sons, John O. Miller, of Minneapolis, and David D. Clow, of Marinette; three grand children, one brother, Umphrey B. Calkins and two sisters, Mrs. Oscar C. Clow, of Winneconne and Mrs. Henry C. Miller, of Allenville, and a number of distant relatives. Funeral held from old homestead Thursday Feb. 5th, attended by a host of friends and neighbors. Rev. Codd officiated using as his text Christ's question to Martha "Believest Tho This." Miss Marion Clow sang, One Sweetly Solemn Though, and Face to Face, two favorite hymns of the deceased. Pallbearers were six nephews.
