E.R. Colton Dead

E.R. Colton, a former resident of Oshkosh, died Saturday at Antigo, of
apoplexy.  His death was a great surprise to his friends in this city who
knew nothing of it until the remains arrived here this morning.  The body
was taken directly to the grave from the depot.  The Rev. E.H. Smith, of
the First Congregational church conducted the funeral services.  Mr. Colton
was seventy years old.  He leaves a son and a daughter who accompanied the
remains to this city.

E.R. Colton was for many years a resident of Oshkosh,  He was a prominent
attorney and one of the leading politicians.  About ten years ago he left
Oshkosh to make his home at Antigo where he lived until his death.  His
demise was a great shock to his friends here, the more so because is was so
unexpected.
