Obituary: Winnebago County, Wisconsin: Frank G. CROSS ************************************************************************ Submitted by Kathy Grace, November 2004 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ Winneconne Local July 6, 1916 p.1 Gone To His Reward Frank G. Cross, one of the old and respected residents of the town of Winneconne, died at the Lakeside hospital in Oshkosh Tuesday night at 8 o'clock, aged sixty-one years. Cancer of the liver being the cause. Deceased had been ailing for sometime with the above affliction. On Saturday June 14, he was taken to the hospital where an operation was intended to be performed. After diagnosing the case more completely it was found that the operation would be of no avail. The sufferer at the time realized the danger and decided nothing could be done, so he bravely met his death with faith in his Maker. Mr. Cross made hosts of friends, all of whom hoped that something would come about to spare his life, at the same time his widow and other relatives hoped against hope until final diagnosis, when they prepared themselves to be separated in this life for the loss of a kind husband and thoughtful father. Deceased had been a very active farmer. Three years ago he retired and took up a home at Allenville. The following relatives survive him: Mrs. Cross, two sons, John T. and Daniel B. Cross, also three brothers, J.S. Cross of Winneconne, W.D., Staples, Minn. and W.H. Cross of Campbell, Minn. The funeral will be Friday with services at the residence at Allenville at 10:30 a.m. and at the Baptist church at 11 a.m. Rev. Thomas W. Gales of Winneconne will officiate and Winneconne Masons will present the Masonic ritual both at the house and at the grave at the Bell cemetery.
