Ring, Resident of Ring, Passes Away After Being in Poor Health for Long Period Thomas J. Davis died at his home at Ring Wednesday afternoon at 3:25 o'clock. He became ill with influenza in March and had been in failing health since that time. He had not been confined to his bed, however, except for the last three weeks. Mr. Davis was born on a farm in the town of Rosendale, Feb. 28, 1851. He was the son of John E. and Mary Davis. He was united in marriage to Miss Elizabeth Jones, of Nekimi, Jan. 26, 1879. They had one daughter, Elizabeth, who died in 1901. The survivors are his wife: two brothers, Evan Davis, of Louisiana, Mo., and David Davis, of Rosendale. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Mr. and Mrs. Davis celebrated their golden wedding anniversary this year in January. They had always resided in Winnebago county. Mr. Davis was a member of the Zoar Welsh Congregational church at Rosendale. He became a deacon in the church in 1885 and in 1887 was elected as church secretary. He also served as secretary of the American Bible society of their vicinity, beginning his term in 1908. He was teacher in a Sunday school class until late years and was active in the work of the church. He was a student of the Bible. Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon in private at the home at 1:30 o'clock and at 2 o'clock at the Zoar church at Rosendale. Rev. P. Z. Evans, of Berlin, will officiate. He will be assisted by Rev. Hugh Owens, of Waukesha. Interment will be at the Zoar cemetery.
