Obituary: Winnebago County, Wisconsin: Flora DOE ************************************************************************ Submitted by Kathy Grace, April 2005 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ Daily Northwestern May 21, 1929 p. 15 Member of Pioneer Family Passes Away Miss Flora Corrine Doe Dies at Algoma Boulevard Home After Extended Illness Miss Flora Corrine Doe, a resident of Oshkosh nearly all her life, died this morning at 6 o'clock at her home, 295 Algoma Boulevard. Death followed an extended illness. Miss Doe was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Harvey Doe, pioneer residents of Oshkosh, who came to this city and 1854 and lived here until their death. The trip to Oshkosh, then a small community, was made in a covered wagon. Mr. and Mrs. Doe settled in this city and assumed a prominent place in the life of the city. Miss Doe was born in Oshkosh, Oct. 1, 1860. She resided here with her parents until 1880 when she went to Idaho Springs, Colo., to live. She remained there for nine years and in 1889 returned to Oshkosh. She resided with her mother to whom she was greatly devoted. The deceased was an active member of the St. Agnes' guild of Trinity Episcopal church. She was a charter member of the Amethyst Whist club with which organization she was connected at the time of her death. The survivors are two sisters. Mrs. S.C. Sangston, of Denver, Colo., and Mrs. Andrew Jackson of Oshkosh. She is also survived by two nieces, Mrs. Robert H. Downes and Mrs. R.O. Wolverton, both of Oshkosh; and two nephews, Rufus C. Brown, Jr., of this city and Carl D. Jackson of New York City. The funeral arrangements will be announced later. The Daily Northwestern May 22, 1929 p.4 Doe--Funeral services for Miss Flora Corrine Doe will be held Thursday morning at 11 o'clock at Riverside chapel. Rev. Joseph N. Barnett, rector of Trinity Episcopal church, will be the officiating clergyman. Interment will be in the family lot in the Masonic section of Riverside cemetery.
