Obituary: Winnebago County, Wisconsin: Mary L. (Perry) DONALDSON ************************************************************************ Submitted by Kathy Grace, July 2004 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ Daily Northwestern September 15, 1891 Menasha, Wis. Mrs. Lucius A. Donaldson, one of the earliest residents of Wisconsin, died here last evening at ten o'clock. She was apparently as well as usual at supper time and her death, the result of extreme old age, came wholly unexpected. Mary L. Perry, for such was Mrs. Donaldson's maiden name, was born in Westminster, Vt., Dec. 12, 1808. She came to Wisconsin, settling in Milwaukee in '36. At that time the present state metropolis was only a little village. She resided successively in Prairieville (now Waukesha), Beaver Dam, Neenah and Menasha. Her residence here dates from '49, in which year her husband, to whom she was married at an early age, died. Aside from an old government mill, Mr. Donaldson owned the first manufactory in the Fox River valley. Mrs. Donaldson has always been an active church member and belonged to the Congregational church of this city. She leaves at death a son, Charles V. and a daughter, Mary. Her funeral will be held on Thursday morning at ten o'clock from the family residence. Rev. Wm. Woidmanser will officiate.
