Obituary: Winnebago County, Wisconsin: Pauline ECKSTEIN ************************************************************************ Submitted by Kathy Grace, November 2004 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ Winneconne Local July 3, 1913 p.1 Mrs. August Eckstein Pauline Wisemiller was born on September 28, 1869, in Winneconne, where she lived and grew to womanhood. On March 17, 1890, she was married to James Champion, and lived with him on the old Champion homestead. To them two children were born, Henry and Florence. Henry, the eldest, died on Feb. 4, 1895, at the age of one and one-half years. Mr. Champion passed away on October 4, 1899, and after settling up the estate the farm was sold. Later Mrs. Champion purchased another farm on the west side of the village, where she lived until March 28, 1906, when she was united in marriage to August Eckstein, and moved onto the farm where she died last Wednesday, June 25, at 10:45 p.m. To Mr. and Mrs. Eckstein two children were born, Sophie and Henry, who, with their father and Florence, survive her. She also leaves her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. Wisemiller and four sisters, Mrs. Johnson of Rose Lawn, Mrs. Krohn, Mrs. Frerks, and Mrs Gabauer, all of Winneconne. Mrs. Eckstein was well known in this vicinity for her sterling qualities and pleasant manner, which endeared her to her many friends, who will miss her, yet their loss was her gain for she had been ill for about two years and she had been confined to her room and bed for about ten months, suffering a great deal until death came as a relief. The funeral was held from the house at two o'clock and from the Presbyterian church at 2:30, Rev. McGreaham conducting the service.
