Ely, Former Meat Dealer, Dies of Heart Disease- Funeral to be Saturday William P. Ely, proprietor of the Ely meat market in this city for thirteen years, died suddenly at 8:15 o'clock Wednesday evening at his home, 322 Washington Boulevard. Mr. Ely had been afflicted with heart disease for the past three years. His condition became much worse this week, but death was unexpected. The end came suddenly Wednesday evening while he was sitting talking to his wife and daughter before retiring. He was born at Neenah in September, 1877. He lived at the place of his birth until seventeen years ago when he came to Oshkosh. He worked in a meat market in this city for a few years. Thirteen years ago he became the owner of a market and operated a business on Main street until ill health forced his to sell and retire Jan. 1 of this year. He is survived by his wife and three daughters, the Misses Adeline, Norma and Helen Ely, all of the city. He is also survived by five brothers, Frank Ely of Chicago, Fred Ely of Ardmore, Okla., George Ely of Eagle River, Edward Ely of Neenah and Harry Ely of Beloit and three sisters, Mrs. Anna Oehlke of Neenah, Mrs. Catherine Joergensen of Calumet, Mich., and Mrs. Mae Syberling of Chicago. The funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 o'clock at the home on Washington Boulevard and at 3:30 o'clock at Oakhill cemetery at Neenah. Rev. W.C. Drahn will officiate. Interment will be at Oakhill cemetery. Friends wishing to view the remains may do so at the home from Friday afternoon until the hour of the funeral.
