Ebenezer Williams, a well known old resident of this city died shortly before nine o'clock this morning at his home 378 Jackson St., of heart trouble superinduced by pneumonia and after an illness extending over a period of about four weeks. Mr. Williams was born June 20, 1830 in Anglesey, Wales anad came to this country when a very young man. He lived for three years in New York where he learned his trade as mason. In the year 1857 he was married at Milwaukee to Margaret Hughes who still survives him and in the early sixties moved to Oshkosh where he his home ever since. He was for many years in the business of mason contracting and in partnership with the late John Gittins, under the firm name Gittins & Williams, built a large number of the substantial hiuses still standing in this city. He retired from that business and for a number of years conducted a grocery store at the corner of Jackson and Irving Streets. About five years ago he retired fron that business. He was a prominent member of the Welsh C. M. church and was for many years and up to the time of his death a trustee of that church.He is survived by his wife and five children, Richard H. Williams of Cedar Rapids, IA; Mrs. Mary (John) Hughes of Gettysburg, S.D.: Mrs. Margaret (David) Jones of Chicago, IL.,William R. Williams of Mason City, IA; and Miss Winnifred S. Williams of this city. The funeral will be held from the residence Saturday afternoon at two o'clock, Rev. John Roberts officiating.
