Dec. 24-- Mr. Joseph Sanford of Menasha aged eighty-four years, died this morning of general debility, after several years of illness. He was born on May 20, 1823 in New York and came to Menasha more then sixty years ago. In 1849 he started the Menasha Woodenware plant and for many years retained part ownership in this large manufacturing concern which is now the largest of its kind in the world. After selling out his interest, he engaged in the plaining mill business for a number of years, after which he retired. He was loved and respected by all who knew him. Surviving is one daughter, Mrs. W. R. Williams of Menasha. The funeral will be held from the late home at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon. Rev. A. E. Leonard of Menasha officiating.
