Horton Died Friday, May 7 Charles A. Horton, auctioneer and dealer in real estate, the son of Lorenda Early and Wesley Horton, was born in the house on Fifth street, this city, now occupied by Mrs. Ed Court, Dec. 25, 1861, and died Friday, May 7 1937, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Sherman Salverson, after being ill three weeks. When a child he moved with his parents to a farm one and one-half miles south of Waupaca and there grew to manhood. He was united in marriage to Miss Laura Jones June 4, 1885. To this union five daughters and four sons were born: (Bessie) Mrs. Clarence Redfield and (Ina) Mrs. Sherman Salverson of Waupaca; (Flossie) Mrs. Warren Overton, Russell, Kas.; (Grace) Mrs. J. C. Abel, New England, N.Dak.; (Esther) Mrs. Arthur Bastian, Racine; Forest, Chimicum, Wash.; John of Bonduel; Glen of Madison, Kas., and Guy, who died at the age of 18 months. Mr. and Mrs. Horton were baptized and united with the Baptist church March 22, 1896. Mrs. Horton preceded her husband in death 37 years ago. Deceased is also survviced by four brothers: Fred and Bert of Oshkosh; Cyrus of Marion, Ind.; and Ira of Sumner, Wash.; and one sister, Mrs. I. G. Seney of Brookings, S. Dak.; also 13 grandchildren and three great-grand children. Funeral services at which Rev. G. N. Doody officiated were held Monday, 2:15 p. m., at the home on Royalton street and 2:30 p. m. at the Baptist church. Pallbearers were C. L. Christenson, C. G. Hanson, Chas. Halsey, John Hom, Carl J. Nelsen and Arnold Wenzel. Interment was at Lakeside cemetery. Out of town attendants at the services were: Mrs. Fred Severence and Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Severence, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Bert Horton, Fred Horton, Mrs. Elizabeth Horton and daughters, Blanche, Tessie and Ida, Mr. and Mrs. George Luft and Ira Horton of Sumer, Wash.; Mr. and Mrs. Forest Horton, Chimicum, Wash.; Mrs. W. R. Overton and Glen of Russell, Kas.; Glen Horton, Madison, Kas.; Mr. and Mrs. John Horton, Bonduel, and Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Abel and daughter Ina of New England, N. Dak. Additional Comments: Father's name was actually John Wesley Horton. Charles was one of 12 children: Fred H., Bert Melvin, George W., dec'd, John W.
