Hicks Never Regained Consciousness- Funeral services to be held tomorrow Justus H. Hicks, whose critical illness was noted on Friday, died Saturday night at 11:45 o'clock. He was unconscious for a long period preceding his death and never rallied from the first stroke of paralysis. He was born in Cohoes, N.Y. in 1825 and came to Winnebago county in 1953. In 1865 he moved to Oshkosh and for a time was quite an active business man. He was one of the first secretaries of the Winnebago County Agricultural society and was a foremost worker in early days for the upbuilding of that organization. Immediate relatives who survive him are a wife and two sons, Ivan H. and Egbert H., both of this city. The funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon from Odd Fellows' hall on Algoma street. The interment will be at Ellenwood. Daily Northwestern May 7, 1895 p.8 The funeral services of the late Justus Hicks were held at Odd Fellows hall on Algoma street this afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. E. H. Smith of First Congregational church conducted religious exercises and preached a sermon, after which the Odd Fellows' ritual was rendered. The remains were interred at Ellenwood cemetery.
