Obituary: Winnebago County, Wisconsin: Patrick KELLEY ************************************************************************ Submitted by Kathy Grace, January 2006 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ Daily Northwestern July 9, 1895 p.8 An Old Settler Gone Death of Patrick Kelley, Who Came Here in 1849 Patrick Kelley, one of the early settler of this city, died Monday afternoon at his residence, corner of Bowen and Ceape streets, of disease of the kidneys. Although the nature of his ailment had confined him to the house for some time, he was able until a few days ago, to attend to all his business affairs, and he retained all his facilities until the last. Mr. Kelley was a native of Limerick, Ireland, where he was born February 17, 1818. He emigrated to America in 1848 and came to Oshkosh in 1849, where he has since resided. For many years he was a drayman and by industry and frugality had accumulated quite a valuable estate. He owned considerable property in this city and Chicago. He leaves two sons and three daughters, Wm J. Kelley, George Kelley, Eva Kelley , and Mrs. T. W. Reilly of this city and Mrs. James Lynch of Chicago. His wife died eleven years ago. The funeral will be held on Wednesday morning. The funeral cortege will leave the home at eight o'clock and proceed to St. Peter's church, where the service will be held. Daily Northwestern January 10, 1895 p.1 Burial Services Today for Patrick Kelley- A Large Attendance Funeral services for the late Patrick Kelley were held at St. Peter's church this morning at nine o'clock and were largely attended by the friends and acquaintances of the deceased. The interment took place in the family lot at Riverside, to which the remains were accompanied by a long cortege. The bearers were James Kenny, Jerry Reardon, John Casey, James O'Rourke, James Kane and John Monahan. Among the relatives present from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Lynch of Chicago and Mr. and Mrs. Fox, Mr. and Mrs. Riley and Michael and John Riley of Fond du Lac. The floral offering were numerous and of rare beauty
