Obituary: Winnebago County, Wisconsin: William Cordis KINNEY ************************************************************************ Submitted by Kathy Grace, December 2004 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ Winneconne Local September 20, 1917 p.1 Passed Away William Cordis Kinney On Friday last, Sept. 14, at his home two and a half miles west of the village, occurred the death of William Cordis Kinney, one of the most highly esteemed men of this vicinity. Death was due to cancer from which the deceased had been suffering several months. Mr. Kinney was born in North Becket, Massachusetts in the year 1848. When a small boy he moved with his parents to Wisconsin, first settling in the town of Black Wolf, this county, but later moving to the town of Poygan where he has since resided. He was married in 1876 to Miss Johanna Broderick who death occurred in 1900. Seven daughters and four sons blessed this union all of whom are left to mourn the loss of their parents. They are Margaret, Grace, Esther, Bryan, William and Maurice of Poygan, Besse of Saginaw, Mich., Thos. of Oshkosh, Mrs. Peter Lavin, Glendive, Montana, Mrs. F.J. Miller, Appleton, Wis., and Mrs. George F. Mader of this village. Funeral services were held on Monday morning at ten o'clock at St. Thomas' Catholic church, Poygan, the Rev. J.W. Husslein officiating. the pallbearers were Robert Broderick, Mike Carey, Rob. Keefe, Jim Heffernon, Ed Keefe, and William Grinnels. Besides his immediate family from away to attend the funeral were his brother John Kinney, Oshkosh, Mrs. M. Roach, Wausau, Chas. Keefe and daughters Mary Ellen and Sue D. of Appleton.
