Fred Krause was born on August 17, 1886, in Juschin, near Krovkal, West Prussia, Germany. On the 14th day of May, 1892, his parents emigrated to this country, moving to this village. In 1908 he went to North Dakota where he lived for two years. From there he went to Benton, Alberta, Canada, where he took up a homestead, and would have proved his claim this fall. March 16 he was seized with pneumonia and succumbed to that disease after an illness of only twenty-four hours. His age was 26 years, 7 months and 29 days. In response to a message his brother went to Canada to accompany the body home. The funeral was held from the house at 1:00 o'clock, Saturday afternoon, and from the church at 2 o'clock. Interment in the village cemetery Rev. O.T. Hoyer conducted services in both English and German. Deceased leaves to mourn his loss, his parents, two brothers, four sisters, one sister-in-law and one brother-in-law.
