Obituary: Winnebago County, Wisconsin: John KROHN ************************************************************************ Submitted by Kathy Grace, November 2004 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ Winneconne Local December 18, 1913 p.1 John Krohn John Krohn, for nearly thirty years a resident of Winneconne, passed away Wednesday evening, Dec. 10. Mr. Krohn was born in Prussia, near Ludwick, on March 10, 1828. When he was a lad of 19 years he came to this country, first residing in the state of New York, where he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Angel. About two years after his arrival in this country his parents and two brothers came from Prussia and joined him. After living in New York for several years Mr. and Mrs. Krohn moved to this state with their two small children living first near Neenah and about thirty years ago they moved to this village. For a number of years Mr. Krohn has faithfully served as sexton of the cemetery in the village and has become widely known thruout this whole community. During their wedded life eight children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Krohn, all of whom are now living in the village. There were six sons, William, Amil, Albert, Henry, Frank and Ed., and two daughters, Mrs. A.J. Johnston and Mr. O.W. Burns. The funeral was held from the Presbyterian church, Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, and the remains were laid at rest in the cemetery which he had so faithfully guarded. Rev. Benjamin Freye read the services and his six sons acted as pallbearers.
