Obituary: Winnebago County, Wisconsin: Lucy LANE ************************************************************************ Submitted by Kathy Grace, September 2005 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ Daily Northwestern March 18, 1895 p.1 Death of Mrs. Lane An Oshkosh Lady Dies While Visiting in Milwaukee Mrs. Lucy Lane, a well known resident of Oshkosh, died quite suddenly Sunday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Caroline McNair, in Milwaukee. Mrs. Lane, who maiden name was Lucy Sanders, was born in Dresden, Rutland county, N.Y., October 17, 1809, and was therefore eighty-six years of age. Quite early in life she removed with her parents to Chautauqua country in western New York and at the age of twenty years was married to Amos Lane. For several years the family resided here, but after the death of her husband, Mrs. Lane came to Oshkosh with her six children in 1857, since which time she has lived here. The surviving family consists of Miss A.M. Lane and William Lane of Oshkosh, Mrs. Caroline McNair of Milwaukee, and Cora A. Lane of Winnebago City, Minn. The remains will arrive on the Northwestern road this evening, and will be taken to the home of the deceased, 336 West Algoma street. No arrangement have been made for the funeral.
