Obituary: Winnebago County, Wisconsin: Grace LASLEY ************************************************************************ Submitted by Kathy Grace, December 2004 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ Winneconne Local February 22, 1917 p.1 Everyone in town acquainted with Mrs. Henry Lasley was shocked last Saturday morning when the news of her sudden death travelled over the village and surrounding country. The day previous the woman was down town greeting her friends. During the early evening her doctor was called. Shortly afterward things apparently looked satisfactory. But within a few hours conditions become more alarming and before the physician could arrive the Almighty had called another Christian lady from earthly labors and sufferings to his Abode from whence no traveler returns. Besides the husband the deceased leaves six children to mourn her loss and call "Mother" with no answer except from the Angel World, and not understood by the dear little tots. The departed had given up life in the true spirit of motherhood with all its trying attributions, but yet in the Lord's written way of living, however hard it appears to the average mind, easily depicts that the easiest way of living on earth is the hardest way of attaining the happy future as the law of "give up all and follow me," bears out. In this especially sad affair the husband and children have the sympathy of the entire community. Deceased was born December 25, 1881, and was married thirteen years ago to Henry Leslie, having made fast and true friends during her life in Winneconne. Services were held Monday morning from St. Mary's church at which time it is reported by the large crowd in attendance that Rev. W.J. Luby gave a very pleasing sermon in commending the earthly life of the departed and death in general. There was a large attendance of relatives and friends. Among those attending from out of town were: Mr. and Mrs. Dell Parrey and two daughters of Boyd, parents and sister of the deceased, Mr. and Mrs. A. Lasley of Oshkosh, Mrs. Nellie Crary and Miss Louise Lasley of Milwaukee. The interment was in the village cemetery.
