Obituary: Winnebago County, Wisconsin: Charles LOCKE ************************************************************************ Submitted by Kathy Grace, August 2005 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ Daily Northwestern April 3, 1901 p.1 Death of Charles Locke Well-Known Resident of Elm Street Passes Away- Death in St. Mary's Hospital Charles Locke, a well known and esteemed resident living at 415 Elm street died Tuesday evening shortly before ten o'clock after a prolonged illness with tuberculosis of the stomach. He was confined to his bed for the past ten weeks. Mr. Locke was 45 years of age. He leaves a wife and three children, two sons and a daughter, also a son, 21 years of age, by his first wife. He was a member of Pinery camp, No. 278, Modern Woodmen of America, and was chief forester, presiding as captain of the team of floor work of the camp. His funeral will be under the auspices of the Woodmen, who will turn out in a body to honor the dead. Up to the time of his fatal illness Mr. Locke was an employe of the Paine Lumber company. He was a glazier by trade. The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon with services at 1:30 o'clock at the residence, and probably at two o'clock at the Algoma M.E. church. The members of the camp of Woodmen will meet at the hall and march in a body at one o'clock. The Royal Neighbors, auxiliary to the camp of Woodmen was to have given a dance tomorrow as a benefit for Mr. Locke, but on account of his death it has been postponed two weeks. The proceeds will go to the family as a benefit.
