Mr. Luhm was born near Friedheim, Germany, August 3, 1842. He came to America with his parents when he was thirteen years old and he lived with them at Rosendale until he was sixteen, at that time he came to Oshkosh which was his home until his death. In 1870, the time of his marriage, he opened the Oshkosh house on Ceape street and he has managed that hotel in the same location since that time. He sank rapidly from that time and he was unconscious nearly all the time until his death. Mr. Luhm was one of the leading German residents of this city. He was one of the charter members of the Schuetzenverein and he was prominently connected with the Turners, the Druid, the Select Knights and the United Workmen. Mr. Luhm was an upright business man, a good citizen and a kind man to his family. He was universally respected in the community. The funeral will be held at two o'clock Wednesday afternoon from his home on Ceape street. The funeral will be conducted entirely according to his wishes. He was a great lover of music and he requested that the Arion band attend the ceremony. The Rev. E. H. Smith will conduct the services and E. S. Wilson will have charge of the singing.
