Marquardt, 78, of 528 10th St., widow of Robert E. Marquardt, Oshkosh funeral director of 43 years, died at 6:45 a.m. today at Mercy Hospital. She suffered a heart attack early Sunday morning. Mrs. Marquardt was born Dec. 24, 1875 in Oshkosh, daughter of Friedrich and Bertha Mueller Barfknecht. On April 26, 1900 she was married to Robert E. Marquardt in this city. He preceded her in death April 28, 1946. Mrs. Marquardt lived in Oshkosh all her life with the exception of five years in Seymour, Wis., from 1903 to 1908. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, the Ladies Aid Society of which she was formerly secretary for many years, the Good Samaritan Society of the church, and also a member of the Oshkosh auxiliary of the Lutheran Home for the Aged at Fond du Lac. Survivors are two sons, Gilbert R. Marquardt and Leonard W. Marquardt, both of Oshkosh; one brother, Otto Barfknecht, Bozeman, Mont., and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Emma Tabbert, Oshkosh, Dec. 14, 1951, and by three brothers. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Christ Lutheran Church with the Rev. Franklin R. Brehmer officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call at the Marquardt Funeral Home from Friday afternoon until noon Saturday and at the church from 12:30 p.m. until the time of services.
