He was born in Toronto, Canada, and came to America, settling in Poygan fifty-five years ago. On August 24, 1874 he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Tallent. For many years he was engaged in the occupation of farming, but in after years he came to Winneconne and engaged in the saloon business. About two years ago cancers started to form on his face. Of course such an affliction is fatal, but while the deceased was especially sick the past six months, he was as jovial almost up to his time of death as he ever was, enough so many times to cause his sympathizers to burst into laughter or crack a smile. He was so full of the sunshine of life. That he could see none of the world's great strife. Funeral services took place Monday morning from St. Mary's church in Winneconne. Rev. W.J. Luby conducting the services. Burial took place at Poygan, where Rev. J.W. Husslein read the last prayer over the remains. The pallbearers were: Mike Gavin, John Ryan, Wm McEvoy, Jim Coughlin, Charles O'Neil and August Utecht.
