Obituary: Winnebago County, Wisconsin: Martin MUSCAVITCH ************************************************************************ Submitted by Kathy Grace, January 2006 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ Daily Northwestern September 8, 1930 p.6 Martin Muscavitch Dies at Farm Home in Town of Poygan Omro, Wis.- Martin Muscavitch passed away at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at his home in the town of Poygan after an illness of two years. Mr. Muscavitch was born Jan. 28, 1866, at Oshkosh and at 7 years of age moved with his parents to the town of Poygan. The elder Muscavitch owned and operated the first threshing machine in this part of the country and later in 1862 the three sons, Martin, Stephen and Joseph operated the first steam thresher, continuing in the business for eight years. On June 16, 1897, Martin Muscavitch and Miss Bertha Brueske of Cleveland, Oh, were united in marriage. For seventeen years they resided at the old homestead, for over two years at Oshkosh and for the past fourteen years they have lived on their present farm in Poygan. The surviving family includes his wife; a son, Lawrence, two brothers, Stephen Muscavitch of Rushford and Joseph Muscavitch of Oshkosh; three sisters, Mrs. Julia Morrison of Poygan; Mrs. Agnes Geffers of Oshkosh, and Mrs. Susan Hamm of Appleton and one grandchild, Marian Muscavitch. Services will be held at 9 o'clock Tuesday morning at St. Thomas church, Poygan, with Rev. Chester Dionne officiating and with interment at St. Thomas cemetery.
