Pratt, passed peacefully to rest this afternoon at the home of her son on Algoma Street. The immediate cause of her death was abdominal dropsy. She has been ill for some time. Since last May she has been confined to her room, and since last Wednesday she has been unconscious, so that she has been unable to speak with any of her family. Her end was peaceful. She passed away as if falling into a deep sleep. Mrs. Pratt had reached the age of seventy-seven years. She was born in Middle Haddam, Conn. She was married to Richard S. Pratt in East Haddam and that place was her home until she came west four years ago to make her home with her son. Her husband died in 1879. Mrs. Pratt had only two children, Senator Pratt and Miss Mary Pratt, of this city. Mrs. Pratt is descended from prominent eastern families. The Buckleys and the Champions, to whom she is related, are well known as old and prominent Connecticut families. She, herself, was well known. During her residence at East Haddam she was prominently connected with church and charitable work. She was especially active in her care of the sick and afflicted. Her work for the free library and other public enterprises will cause her to be gratefully remembered at her old home. Mrs. Pratt was a woman of broad culture and remarkable energy. The funeral arrangements have not been made. Her remains will be taken to East Haddam for burial, but they may be kept here in the vault for the present.
