Obituary: Winnebago County, Wisconsin: August PROCHNOW ************************************************************************ Submitted by Kathy Grace, November 2004 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ Winneconne Local June 5, 1913 p. 1 Succumbs to Heart Failure August Frederick Edward Prochnow, one of the early settlers of this section, passed away at his home in the village, Thursday evening, May 29, at 7 o'clock following an attack of heart failure while he was sitting on the porch talking with others. Mr. Prochnow was born in Gersagen, Germany on Sept. 26, 1852, on Oct. 3, 1879, he was married to Hermenia Kabka at Wilhelmina. They resided at Stargard for four years and in April, 1883 they emigrated to this country, arriving at Reed City, Mich., where they lived a year, coming to Winneconne in July, 1884. Five years were spent on a farm in this neighborhood, then they moved into the village. For Sixteen years Mr. Prochnow was employed on the railroad section here, but was forced to give up his work on account of ill health. He leaves a wife and 13 children, Herman, Richard, William, August, Anna, Martha, Fred, Hattie, Henry, Esther, Eric, Harry and Grant, besides two brothers and one sister. The funeral was held from the house at 1:30 and from the Lutheran church at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon. Interment in the village cemetery.
