He had been ill for some time and as being taken to the home of a relative where he might receive further care. Mr. Reif was between sixty and sixty-five years of age, and an old resident of this city Oshkosh Northwestern, March 16, 1915 p. 3 WAS PIONEER FIREMAN Death Removes Resident Who Was Member of the Volunteer Fire Department - Funeral Tomorrow Frank Reif, who died in the city ambulance yesterday afternoon while being taken from his room at 388 High street to Alexian Brothers Hospital, was a member of the old volunteer fire department of the city of Oshkosh and later a member of the paid department. He was sixty-seven years of age, was born in Milwaukee in 1818 and residing in this city since his boyhood. His death yesterday was due to pneumonia. The funeral will be held at 2:30 o’clock tomorrow from the home of his son, Edgar Reif, 153 Wright street. Rev. Edward H. Smith will conduct the service and Mrs. J.H. Kircher and Miss Clara Schmidt will sing. Interment will be at Riverside cemetery. Mr. Reif is survived by three daughters and five sons. The daughters are Mrs. Edward Eichlitz of St. Louis, Mrs. Lew Smith of this city and Mrs. Charles Brown of Antigo. The sons are Charles Reif of Antigo, Edgar Reif of this city, Alvin Reif of La Crosse, Jesse Reif of St. Louis and Bert Reif of this city Oshkosh Northwestern, March 18, 1915 p. 2 REIF - Funeral services for Frank Reif were held at 2:30 o’clock yesterday at the home of his son, Edgar Reif, 153 Wright street. Rev. Edward H. Smith was the officiating clergyman and the singers were Miss Clara Schmidt and Mrs. J.S. Kircher. A number of relative attended from out of the city and three sons and three nephews acted as pall bearers. The remains were buried at Riverside cemetery.
