Obituary: Winnebago County, Wisconsin: Mary Belle Rogers ************************************************************************ Submitted by Kathy Grace, February 2005 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ Winneconne Local December 13, 1917 p.1 Mrs. Rogers, an old settler, died Sunday Mrs. William Rogers died at her home in Winneconne on Sunday afternoon at four o'clock, after a siege of poor health for more than a year. Mrs. Mary Belle Scott was born on October 9, 1844, at Greenfield, Saratoga county, New York. Her parents moved to Butte des Mortes. On February 20, 1865, she was united in marriage at Oshkosh to William Rogers. They moved to Winneconne 36 years ago. Deceased was endeared to her many friends and acquaintances in the surrounding country. While her death was expected the arrival of the grim reaper left a mark of sorrow among her many friends in this locality. She had a genial, motherly, manner and faced the trials of life we all are called upon to endure, though after all, who in life has not some sorrows to face? If it is not one kind of sorrow one day it is another kind the next day- because life on this earth is at its best our first place of suffering- and those who endure same have additional glory in the Great Beyond. Trials come through sickness as well as other ways. Like a soldier on the battlefield it is a call for endurance, and thus such a lady as Mrs. Rogers shall obtain special grace in the hereafter. Deceased leaves the following to mourn her loss: William H. Rogers, husband; Daisy Rogers, daughter; Carl W. Rogers, son; all of Winneconne. Mrs. Chas. Peterson, sister, Morgan City, Ia.; Mrs. Julia Semple, a sister, Chicago. The funeral will take place on Friday afternoon at one o'clock from the home.
