At an early age he learned the locksmith's trade and in 1848 he came to this country. He settled in Cleveland for a time and here mastered the intricacies of gun-making. Shortly afterward he went to Detroit where he married Miss Barbara Bollinger who survives him. In 1854 the deceased moved to this city and established a gun and general repair shop at 16 State street. A wife and six children are left to mourn the loss of the husband and father. The sons and daughters, William Schloerb, Mrs. Joseph Smick, Gus Schloerb, Mrs. John Rosenkranz, Albert Schloerb with the exception of Mrs. W.H. Laabs of Waupaca all reside in this city. The funeral will be held Wednesday at 1 P.M. from the Washington street Evangelical Association church and the Sons of Hermann of which order the deceased was a member will participate in the services.
