SHOEMAKER - At her home in Neenah, Wisconsin, Ella J. Shoemaker, only child of Deacon and Mrs. Hiram Shoemaker in her 22nd year. On Christmas eve she occupied her place as organist in the Baptist church, apparently in her usual health. On the following evening symptoms of diphtheria were manifested, and notwithstanding all that medical skill could accomplish she gradually sunk under the disease and died on Saturday monring, January 2, 1875 Additional Comments: Ella Jane Shoemaker was the daughter of Hiram Shoemaker and Mary E. Ford. She was a granddaughter of George Shoemaker and Nancy Churchill on her father's side, and a granddaughter of William E. Ford Sr. and Eliza Ann McBride on her mother's side.
