Slocum, former editor of the Omro Herald, passed away about 3 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at Mercy hospital, after a short illness. Mrs. Slocum had undergone an operation Monday morning. She resided at the home of Oscar V. Witherby, 634 Jackson drive. The deceased had been a resident of Oshkosh at intervals for many years. Since the death of her husband several years ago, she had lived at Chicago and in this city. She was born in New York state. Before her marriage her name was Miss Hattie Rose. The only immediate survivor is a brother. Other relatives include a niece, Mrs. Marion Perry, of Fond du Lac; Mrs. Ella Williams, also of Fond du Lac, a cousin and her daughter, Mrs. Genie Will, both of Chicago. Mrs. Slocum was a member of the Woman's guild of St. John's English Lutheran church here and the Women's Relief corps of Omro. Final rites will be held Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Spikes & McDonald funeral home, Court and Otter streets. The remains may be viewed there from Thursday evening to the time of the funeral.
