Obituary: Winnebago County, Wisconsin: Maud SPRAGUE ************************************************************************ Submitted by Kathy Grace, August 2004 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ Daily Northwestern April 8, 1893 Her Life Ended Death of Maud Sprague- Her Long Illness and Patience Miss Maud Sprague, a well known young lady of this city, died last evening at 10:30 o'clock at the residence of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ava Sprague, 334 Mt. Vernon street. Miss Sprague's illness dates from about the first of February, and began with peritonitis. She continued to grow worse, but after four weeks a change for the better was noticed. A relapse followed, and from that time her condition has rapidly grown worse, and for the past few days she has lingered between life and death. Yesterday her death was momentarily expected, as it was thought that she could hardly live through the day. She was twenty-one years of age last December. Miss Sprague was born in this city, attended the public schools, and took a course in the high school. Previous to her illness she was saleslady at Miss Josie Cornish's millinery store. During all her sickness, Miss Sprague bore up with great patience and fortitude, and although fully aware of the fact that her time on this earth was short, yet she was perfectly resigned. A marked quality in the life of Miss Sprague was her amiability, which endeared her to the hearts of all who knew her. The funeral will be held Monday afternoon at two o'clock from the residence, and the remains will be interred at Riverside.
