Obituary: Winnebago County, Wisconsin: George STAIB ************************************************************************ Submitted by Kathy Grace, April 2005 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ Daily Northwestern Aug. 24, 1926 p.8 Pioneer Resident Dies Death Comes to George Staib at His Home in This City, Funeral Will be Friday George Staib, 633 Bowen street, and one of the city's pioneers, passed away at his home at 10:40 o;clock this morning. Deceased was born in Wertenburg, Germany, December 11, 1851, and came to America thirty years ago, settling in Oshkosh the same year, 1881. Mr. Staib was a foreman at the Bell manufacturing company for ten years and later was employed as foreman at the Williams-Libbey company for six years. Just before his death he did odd jobs of carpenter work at his home. Besides his wife, Mrs. Anna Ehrnann Staib, deceased is survived by one son, August Staib of this city, and one brother, John Staib of Wertenburg, Germany. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the home, Rev. Harry E. Krug officiating. Friends wishing to view the remains may do so from Thursday afternoon to the hour of service on Friday. Interment will be at Riverside cemetery.
