STRONG ************************************************************************ Submitted by Kathy Grace, April 2005 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ Daily Northwestern Aug. 10, 1926 p.8 Amos Strong, War Veteran Passes Away Had Lived in Winnebago County Since Boyhood and Was Member of the Iron Brigade Neenah, Wis. - Amos N. Strong, aged 85, a veteran of the civil war, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. George Kleineder, East Columbian avenue, here after a brief illness. Mr. Strong was born in Niagara county, New York, on March 8, 1841. At the age of 14 he came to Wisconsin with his parents and lived much of his life on a farm between Winneconne and Oshkosh. He served three years with the famous Iron brigade in the war of the rebellion, and was a member of the G.A.R., the Odd Fellows, and of the Baptist church of Winneconne. Surviving are three children, Walter and Harvey Strong, both of Oshkosh, and Mrs. George Kleineder of this city. Short services were held Monday noon at the Sorenson chapel, after which the body was taken to Winneconne, where services were held at the Baptist church, Rev. U.E. Gibson of this city officiating. Burial was in the Winneconne cemetery.
