W. Stroud A Pioneer and Highly Respected Citizen Passes Away Today William D. Stroud died this morning at 9 o'clock at his home, 319 Eleventh street, death resulting from general debility. Mr. Stroud was born in Essex county, New York, July 10, 1808. He was married to Laura Ann Lee, Jan. 22, 1832, and in 1854 came to this city. Mr. Stroud was engaged in the manufacture of iron during the early part of his life, but discontinued that occupation upon settling in Wisconsin. Immediately after coming here he settled on a farm one mile west of the city where he remained until 1867, when he retired from active. life. Mr. Stroud was closely identified with the development and growth of this city. He was an honored citizen, and his death adds one more name to the list of pioneers who, after struggling to build up the city, have been called to their place of rest. Mr. Stroud leaves thirty-five grand-children, ten great-grandchildren, and one surviving sister, Mrs. Zilpha Norton, aged 90 years. His surviving children are: William L. Stroud, Laura A. Thomson, Amanda Harney, Horace Stroud, Albert E. Stroud, James N. Stroud, Irene M. Blyman, and Charles T. Stroud. One son, George F., is dead. The funeral will be held Saturday at 2 o'clock from the residence on Eleventh street.
