Ward, Former Resident of This City. J.M. Ward, a former resident of Oshkosh, but later in Detroit, Mich., died Wednesday morning at 3 o’clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. R.F. DeForest in Detroit. Mr. Ward was believed to be close to four score and ten years old and it was thought death was due to general dibility although he had been in failing health for some time. He was born in this city and lived here for many years. He had gone to Detroit about fifteen years ago to reside with his daughter. Mr. Ward was a member of the Phillip H. Sheridan post No. 10 of the Grand Army of the Republic. Besides Mrs. DeForest, he is survived by four sons, Walter Ward of Kenosha, Arthur Ward of Detroit, Charles Ward of Pittsburgh, and Theodore Ward of Philadelphia. The remains are to be brought to this city Saturday morning. Funeral services will be held at the Spikes & McDonald chapel at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon. Rev. Joseph N. Barnett will be the officiating clergyman. The body will be placed in the receiving vault in Riverside cemetery. Oshkosh Northwestern, March 5, 1928 WARD -- The funeral of J.M. Ward was held Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the Spikes & McDonald chapel. Rev. Joseph N. Barnett of the Trinity Episcopal church officiated. Pallbearers were Frank T. Mueller, John Sitter, Charles Hellard, Robert Hellard, Earl C. Goettman and Morris Redford. There were many beautiful floral tributes and the services were largely attended. The remains were temporarily placed in the receiving vault in Riverside cemetery and burial will be made in the family lot in spring.
